I was so excited when I got my new Instant pot and immediately did the steam test (simple instructions can be found here) so that I could try my next food–the boiled egg.  My first were a little green around the edge, but none the less, I was so proud of myself.  I was so proud, I posted my eggs on facebook–yes, that was me.  Since then, I’ve made many more instant pot recipes, many of them on this site, but my need to make the perfect boiled egg still nagged at the back of my mind.  This egg may not be your perfect egg, but for me, it’s really close.  Here’s my method complete with NEW AND IMPROVED pictures.  lol

Get out your handy dandy vegetable steamer and insert into the instant pot.

Put 6 eggs into the steamer and close until the steamer won't close anymore. You can do more if they fit--I actually did 7 because that's how many I had.

Pour 1 cup of water into the bottom of the instant pot and close and seal the top.

Push manual and then adjust to 6 minutes. Push the adjust button and switch from high to low pressure. I think this change made all the difference in my eggs.

After the alarm goes off, quick release and take out the strainer. That's why I like to use my vegetable strainer. It has a plastic top that doesn't hold heat, so I can lift it easily out of the pot.

Immediately put the eggs into an ice water bath and let soak until cool enough to touch.

Peel eggs and use for whatever purpose you like!
